adolescente asthmatiqueAsthma is a disease that affects your lungs, causing repeated episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and nighttime or early morning coughing.  These episodes, or attacks, happen in the body’s airways — as the air moves through the lungs, the airways become smaller, and during an asthma attack, the sides of the airways swell and the airways shrink. Less air gets in and out of the lungs, and mucous that the body makes clogs the airways further.  Medications and therapies are available to control asthma attacks, and individuals with asthma are encouraged to address issues in their environment that act as triggers for the attacks.
